Sacraments

Parish-Based, School-Supported Sacramental Celebrations

All children at the College learn about the Sacraments through the Religious Education Units of Work that form the Religious Education Curriculum for all Catholic Schools in Western Australia.

Catholic students who attend the College celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Year 3), First Holy Communion (Year 4) and Confirmation (Year 6) as part of the St Francis Xavier Parish.

The College works with parents/carers, who are the first educators of their child/ren in the ways of the faith, to fulfill their role in:

  • Growing in their own faith journey and in their understanding of the meaning and importance of the Sacraments

  • Supporting their child/ren to learn to pray and to live as Christians in the context of their family life

  • Giving their child/ren the opportunity to experience belonging to a faith community and in particular, attending Eucharistic and Liturgical celebrations as part of that community, and

  • Presenting their child for the Sacraments.

The program of preparation for the Sacraments of Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation includes:

  • Enrolment Mass at St Francis Xavier Church

  • Commitment Mass at St Francis Xavier Church

  • Parent/Child Workshop at St Francis Xavier Parish Hall

  • Sacramental Retreat (school-based)

  • Rehearsal for the Sacrament at St Francis Xavier Church

  • Sacramental celebration at St Francis Xavier Church
