Sustainability

At Salvado Catholic College we strive to educate students to be responsible for the environment and apply sustainable practices across the College.

In 2019, the College became an accredited Waste Wise school and conducted a waste audit. Through this audit it was identified that the majority of the College’s  waste was in the form of food scraps. In order to address this issue and reduce waste across the campus, compost bins were purchased with funds from a successful application for a Waste Wise grant, and the student and staff Sustainability Teams work together to manage these compost bins along with the help of our College groundsperson.

The College encourages Waste Free lunches, where students are encouraged to reduce their waste by bringing food in containers rather than disposable packaging and plastics. This has been a great success with families working together with the College to reduce its waste. We also recycle batteries, soft plastics and paper, and will continue to embed sustainable practices to help build a cleaner and sustainable future for all.
